66 ceramic enterprises quit, 178 enterprise running under deficit, 44 bankruptcies, what’s the ceramics industry future in 2021?
During 2020, the ceramics industry experienced a big reshuffle. For the domestic market, the retail market is depressed, the time limit for changing coal to gas, the selling channels change, for the export market, because of the epidemic surge overseas, order cancellation, shipment delayed, and after September, hard to booking containers, ocean freight skyrocketed… many ceramics enterprises are struggling to get by, stop production and bankruptcy have become the normal.
What have you suffered under the pandemic in 2020?
On December 2nd, the 1st general meeting of the ceramic and decorative materials of the China Ceramic Industry Association was held in Xiqiao town, Foshan City, Mr Ruixin Fan, the deputy secretary-general of China Ceramic Industry Association, shared the report on the development of China ceramic industry in 2020,
“From January to October 2020, there were 1,094 construction ceramics enterprises in China, 66 enterprises less than 2019, and there were 178 enterprises running under deficit, increase 3 than the previous year, ”
he noted. “this year, about 70 enterprises are in a state of complete shutdown. ”“between 2017 and 2020,185 enterprises disappeared and 381 production lines were scrapped. ” More than 500 ceramics enterprises disappeared in the pass 5 years.
According to Taochengjun survey statistics, 2020 up to now, there have been 44 declared bankrupt ceramic enterprises, the number of bankrupt enterprises exceeded the whole year of 2019(nearly 30) .
From January to October 2020, the business operations of the construction ceramics industry, sanitary ceramics industry and special ceramics industry are as follows:
There were 1,094 construction ceramics enterprises (1,160 in the previous year, a decrease of 66) , achieving a revenue of 250.67 billion yuan, increase of 0.36%; total profit of 15.64 billion yuan, increase of 1.55%; profit margin of sales was 6.2%; the number of unprofitable enterprises was 178, increase 3 than the previous year.
There were 361 sanitary ceramics enterprises (with the same statistics as the previous year) , with main business income of 60.63 billion yuan, 4.91% down from the same period of the previous year; profits of 5.08 billion yuan, 8.78 % down from the same period of the previous year; sales margin of 8.37 %; and 46 enterprises with losses, compared with the same period of the previous year, the number of factories increased by 10, with a loss of 12.7%, and the output of 160 million units, down by 10.1 %.
In terms of Customs export statistics, from January to December in 2020, exports of construction use ceramic amounted to 13.12 million tons , a year-on-year decrease of 18.6 %, the amount is 6.72 billion usd, decline of 7.8% less than the previous year;
From January to July 2020, 825,200 tons (46.1 million pieces) of sanitary ware were exported, decrease 13.66 %(13.08 %) from the same period last year, and the value of exports reached 4.165 billion U.S. dollars, 7.74% increase from the same period last year, year-on-year decrease of 12.01% .
Guangdong has the largest number in the list of 44 ceramics companies that have declared bankruptcy
According to Tao Cheng Jun incomplete statistics, from January to November, a total of 44 ceramic enterprises declared bankruptcy. Guangdong has the largest number of bankrupt ceramics enterprises, with 27, mainly concentrated in Foshan (7) and Qingyuan (13) , and then Shandong (5) and Jiangxi (5) , all of which are concentrated in Zibo.
The vast majority of ceramic enterprises went bankrupt because they could not pay off their debts or “could not pay off the debts due and the assets were not enough to pay off all the debts” . Among them, ceramic enterprises had debts of 700 million yuan, and two enterprises had debts totaling nearly 400 million yuan.
The market environment is poor, a little carelessness is easy to appear the problem. According to the current data, in 2020 the elimination of the ceramic industry market is still continuing, but bankruptcy does not mean that “lost” , there is a chance to re-auction after the re-operation, this year, there are ceramic enterprises have been “Live” .
